Apart from being a JM lover, I also like reading, cooking, the sun and the sea, although you probably can't tell that from my posts ;)
First of all, as I mentioned earlier, I’ve decided not to listen to the iTunes song previews or watch lyric videos, just to have the best experience possible while I listen to the album in its entirety once it comes out. I purposely haven’t read any of the reviews either. I would also gladly erase all the surprise shows and things from my memory if I could, haha. I think that ‘blank slate’ approach to the new material would be very interesting and it would probably multiply my feelings by hundreds, if that’s even possible.
So after giving the album few listens (okay, maybe more than few…) I wrote down my thoughts on each song. I am no music expert, so forgive me if I made any mistakes with terms and such. I tried to express my feelings as best as I could and single out the moments that caught my ear. No words can describe just how much in awe I am though. But here we go…

These seven photographs taken by Gari Lamar Askew II will be on exhibit and for sale at the Born and Raised Store tonight. The collection was curated by Gari from two photoshoots: one during the Born and Raised recording sessions, and the other from a road trip with John along the Pacific Coast Highway.
Each photograph is available in two sizes: A limited edition of ten 11x14 prints and a single 20x30 print (on exhibit through Sunday, May 27th). Both John and Gari will be on hand at tonight’s Store Opening at 7pm to sign purchased prints.*dead* ALL of them are beautiful <33

John, we are ridiculously proud of you! I’ve been talking to a lot of fans from all over the world and we all agree on one thing: this album is bringing us a sense of calm and peace we’ve been longing for. It’s touching and sincere and gosh, it’s nearly impossible to hear it without shedding a few tears.
Thank you for giving us so many good memories and for allowing us to be part of your adulthood.
It’s been 10 great years seeing you became this amazing man and musician. You once said you brag about us like grandparents brag about their grandkids.

The official release copy of Born and Raised (just opened) next to the track list on my refrigerator since 5/11. Keep working for that final product. You will get there.
Edited to add: The song ‘Helpless” isn’t a cover of the classic CSNY song… it was a tune I wrote that I really like but something about it didn’t match the DNA of the album. Same with “Living Proof.”
